Victoria—never Vikki—Drayton walked in on her boyfriend with another woman. In her house. In her bed. Rather than eviscerate the fetid maggot spit as she so wanted, she kept it classy. After kicking him out with a warning to never return, she thrashed whatever he deigned to leave behind, and flew off in search of something a tad less cannibalistic to sink her beak into.
Instead of the brown bear she was hoping for, she found some men escorting a chained man none-so-gently toward the nearest cliff. Sweeping in to beat up the louts channeled some of her anger. Saving Mallory Stone—tall, rich, dragon, and so gorgeous he had to be gay—was a bonus, even if she had to reveal the existence of griffins and some of their idiosyncrasies in the process. Mal showed up on her doorstep a few days later begging a favor; his brother has disappeared and he needs her help. Who better than a griffin to claw to the truth of the matter?

Praise for A Griffin Scorned:
I LOVE this book! LOVE it! I used to be a huge fan of paranormal/urban fantasies until they all started to sound the same. They, like vampire stories, were set aside with a sticky note that read, “Don’t read these ever again!”However, I saw this one and said, “Griffin, huh? Hmm. Well, that’s something you don’t see a lot of.” Ms. Calisto takes all the elements you love about paranormal/urban fantasies, and adds elements that haven’t been used–or at least that haven’t been used a lot.Her writing style is easy to fall into. You can read this book with one surviving brain cell or a fully-rested mind. The plot arc is intriguing. The characters are real and likable. There’s plenty of drama and a healthy dose of humor.
Great story! You’re not going to regret picking this one up.
Griffin Scorned by Veronica Calisto is a unique take on urban fantasy, staring a Griffin and a Dragon.Victoria is a Griffin, and she came home to find her boyfriend in the arms of another woman… in her bed. The sight sends her on a rampage. Of course, Mallory Stone is glad she’s there when she saves his life. The two find they have more in common than they thought, since they’re both extra-normals.Of course, Mallory needs Victoria’s help when his brother goes missing. No one can lie to a griffin. And they find the plot is deeper than they thought.
I love Victoria as a character because she’s smart and sassy without being cliche or nasty. Griffins and dragons aren’t the normal ‘paranormal’ book scene, and so that’s fun as well. The plot is unique. The writing is tight. And you can’t help but fall for the characters. It’s a perfect blend!
This is a terrific urban fantasy novel, the best I’ve read in a long time. The world of griffins, dragons, werewolves and other extranormal creatures is created with such effervescence and fun that it immerses you completely in the story. The main character, Victoria, is a griffin and capable of shape changing from a very ordinary woman into a stunning winged beast. But that’s not all her qualities, and each of her talents is revealed in the increasing tension and peril of a community under siege by dark forces. The sizzling romantic tension between her and a gorgeous red dragon, Mallory, is just flat out wonderful. Like the famous Jane Eyre in Charlotte Bronte’s book, Victoria thinks she’s homely, too pudgy, her hair too crazy and her features not supermodelish at all. Yet she dazzles and charms everyone who meets her, and her beauty shines through. She’s spectacular! The hunky Mallory thinks she’s amazing, and Victoria thinks she’s not, and I wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into her. Go ahead and kiss him, already! You don’t just get to read about endearing and fascinating extranormal characters, though. This is also a nonstop thriller with missing people, murder victims, a deadly villain and only one person who has the skills to save them all — Victoria. The novel ends with a rescue that will have you on the edge of your seat, and a hook that should lead to further adventures. I’ll be first in line to get the next
one. All in all a true pleasure to read.
I started reading Kindle Unlimited books several months ago. I read at least one book a day and prefer entertaining fantasies. This book has what I like the most: quirky characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and a decent plot. There are NO uncomfortably graphic love scenes, tacky paranoramal cliches, or teenage angst. I loved it. I was suprised that it had so few reviews and I felt compelled to create a review, my first ever. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this book! I hope there will be a sequel. After all we want to find out what happens between Victoria and Mal, also how Jack gets out of trouble, and how Mal’s Mother does with her twin baby dragon daughters. I do hope you will be doing that sequel, cause I’m ready to read it now! I had a very good time and quite a few laughs reading this, can’t wait for the next one!
