Character Interview: Gabe Hunter from Dream Hunter

Good morning, everyone! Today we have the wonderful opportunity to speak with an angel. If that’s not rare, I don’t know what is! So let me introduce you, dear Reader, to Gabe Hunter….

What do you want from life?

Before I met Cynthia, it was simple. Guard your charge. Avoid emotional involvement. Keep a low profile. End of story. I did not want anything from life, I had a purpose and that was enough. Meeting Cynthia changed everything. I am no longer satisfied to merely exist. I want to love and care for her, but I also want to help other humans on a more global level. Would it be too idealistic to say I want to save the world?

How do you decide if you can trust someone? Experience with others? with this person? First impressions? Intuition? Do you test the person somehow? Or are you just generally disposed to trust or not to trust?

I have good instincts and a finely tuned sense of intuition. If someone is worthy of my trust, I will know.

Describe yourself to me.

Tall, dark, and dangerous. <Lop-sided grin> Well, I am tall and I like to dress in black – it helps me blend into the shadows.  I guess the dangerous part is more like wishful thinking although my employer would attest to my impulsive nature which is a mite on the dangerous side.

Did you turn out the way you expected? The way your parents predicted?

I guess I turned out the way I expected. I was groomed to become a Guardian Angel and I was successful – mostly. I do not remember my parents, but my employer may not agree with that assessment of success. I may have, uh, broken the rules a time or two.

What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?

A long time ago, I was assigned to a little boy named Gabe. I could not save him. We go into business knowing we cannot save them all, but it is still heartbreaking when you lose a charge. Little Gabe had a brain tumor. My assignment was to comfort him through his last days. I will never forget him.

What do you consider your strengths?

I am observant, determined, and good at strategy.

What do you consider your weaknesses?

Caring too much about humans… not caring so much about the rules. I guess you could say I think the end justifies the means when it comes to my charges. I was willing to do whatever it took to save them and that caused me to butt heads with my employer a time or two. Caring too much is both a weakness and a strength. What made me a less than model Guardian Angel (according to my employer) also made me successful at my job.

What do you consider your special talent?

<Dashingly adorable grin> You know what my special talent is. With a simple look, carefully directed, of course, I can turn up the heat and re-direct your focus back to me. A very useful talent to have.

How would you change the world?  The things around you? The people around you?

I believe I can make the world a better place one human at a time. Assisting others find their potential and helping and saving them is what it is all about.

How do you learn best?

I learn best by observation. A skill very useful in the world of Guardian Angels. In my position, I spend a fair amount of time monitoring my charge’s emotions and using that information to help and guide them on their journey.

DH-cover_200X300Cynthia’s dreams are so real, they are actually coming true – complete with the prerequisite dream guy. But things are not as they seem.

Who said dreams are sweet?

Chicago businesswoman Cynthia Courtland is completely focused on her career when a sensual, reoccurring dream disrupts her orderly life. Then a threat against her workplace forces her to take time off. She is lost with nowhere to go–only her empty apartment.

Work is Gabe’s life too; he takes it very seriously and will do whatever it takes to succeed. He’s been watching over Cynthia for a long time and he has her best interests at heart, but can he protect her from the danger she is blind to? When Cynthia insists on investigating the threat so she can get back to work, it makes Gabe’s job all the more difficult.

When things settle, will there be more for them than a life filled with work? Will she give her dreams a chance to come true?
