Today, we’re talking to Nemy from NL Gervasio‘s contemporary romance novel Nemesis.
Welcome, Nemy. What’s that nickname mean?
It’s short for Nemesis. Not my real name, of course, but we won’t be revealing that here today. *smiles*
How do you feel about your family, now that you’re an adult?
Hmm…that’s a good question. I suppose I don’t have as much animosity toward them, especially my dad. But honestly, the man’s a mafia Don.
What do you want from life?
To be happy. I know I have to make that happen, but it’s kinda hard to be optimistic when you’ve had your heart shattered into a bah-jillion tiny pieces…oh, I’m sorry. What was the question?
If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
*taps right temple in concentration* Clancy, a child, and doing something of my own with my degree.
What three things would you take to a Desert Island?
*cocks brow* Who wants to go to a desert island? Dessert island, maybe….ooh, chocolate….
In your relationship with others, how are you different with family than you are with friends? Why?
Is that really a question? *laughs* Okay, my friends would probably tease me endlessly if they saw me around my dad. I turn back into a little girl.
How do you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period?
At first sight is lust. Over a long period, like say a year or so, I fall madly deeply hopelessly in love. *sigh*
What parts of loving come easy for you? Hard?
This sounds like a sex question. Can we talk about that here? *looks around* I didn’t think it’d be allowed.
How do you decide if you can trust someone?
Oh wow, trust is real difficult for me, especially growing up in my family. We could never trust anyone outside the “family.” You could end up talking to an FBI agent or something.
When you walk into a room, what do you notice first? Second?
Where everyone is. It’s an old die-hard habit that’s hard to break. Second, I notice if they’re armed or not. Yeah, I know.
When you walk into a room, what do you expect people to notice about you?
*laughs* Other than this chest and the tats? I’d like people to just see me, but I hide myself so well it’s impossible for that to happen.
Describe yourself to me.
I’m a tall Italian Bettie Page with tattoos up and down my arms and back. I don’t take crap from people, either.
Is one sense more highly developed than another? (Are you more visual, or auditory, etc, or do you rely on the famous sixth sense?)
I always trust my gut, if that’s what you’re asking. *turns on stool* Who wrote these questions?
Did you turn out the way you expected? The way your parents predicted?
HA! *snorts* Oh, hell no!
What do you consider your strengths?
What do you consider your weaknesses?
Trusting the wrong people.
What do you consider your special talent?
Apparently, I’m pretty good at a fireball.
What do you wish your special talent was?
Fuck if I know. Hadn’t really thought about it.
What are you most proud of about your life?
I can take care of myself and don’t need a man to do it for me.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done? Why?
I’d rather not discuss that.
Describe your ideal mate.
Finally! We’re getting to the good stuff! That would be C-l-a-n-c-y.
What are you most afraid of?
What’s the most important thing in your life? What do you value most?
My independence. I know that sounds contradictory to the last two questions, but trust me, a girl can be independent and still be all google-y about a guy. Besides, have you seen him? For fuck’s sake, the man is a god.
What are you most afraid of?
Honestly? Losing Clancy. I’d die without that man. *places hand over heart*
What do you like best about your best friend?
Teags is my BFF (best fucking friend) and the best thing about that girl is her straight talk. There’s no bullshit, and she doesn’t care if you love or hate what she says to you. The one thing you know for sure is that whatever comes out of that girl’s mouth is the cold hard truth.
What do you like least about your best friend?
She’s a fucking temperamental ginger.
What do you think other people think of you?
Ask me if I care.
What’s your greatest source of frustration?
What’s your greatest source of joy?
What are you especially proud of in your life?
That I stand my ground, never back down. I think even Papa is proud of that, though it’s usually him I’m standing my ground against. *laughs*
If you could change anything about your life what would it be?
Not a damn thing.

Prince Charming was a putz.
Prince Charming number two was even worse.
After the last prince ran off without any notice, breaking her heart and their engagement along the way, Nemesis Mussolini swore off men and passed the time kicking ass and slinging drinks, something her mafia father would never approve of. But, when her boss Clancy ups his flirtations, it’s difficult to remember she’s not interested, especially when he gets that delicious evil glint in his eye that has her melting. Just when Nemy starts to think all men might not be bad, she hears whispers about Clancy’s less than legal past, and wants to run like hell from the idea that he could be just like her father.
Great . . . Prince Charming number three may possibly be on FBI’s Most Wanted.
While Nemy and Clancy tumble down the romance road, hitting potholes every step of the way, Nemy discovers how much of her heart already belongs to Clancy, and how much of a Don’s daughter she really is. But she must learn to trust again. Can Nemy surrender in time to get her happily ever after, or is she hell-bent on letting her past keep her from the one man who could be her true Prince Charming?
