Today, we welcome Dana Yang from The Dracove and Gods & Vampyres by NL Gervasio to the Just Ink Press library for a little one-on-one time with the well-known slayer. Welcome, Dana!

*waves* Hiya.

We’re glad to have you here today. You’re our first slayer.

Uh-huh. I heard you had a vamp here last week.

And an incubus the week before that.

Incubus? Oh, I don’t have to deal with those guys. That’s another department, I think. Kind of like the werewolves.

Oh, so you don’t hunt werewolves?

Not typically, no. Unless, of course, they’re in my way. Mainly, I just hunt the vamps, but that’s all apparently changing now. *grunts*

So let’s get to the real you. How do you feel about your family, now that you’re an adult?

I love my family! They are the reason I am who I am today! They trained me, taught me special skills. What more could a girl ask for?

What do you want from life?

Cianán dead, and then every single one of the vamps he sired—*looks around* What? Oh, right. Okay. Just Cianán dead.

If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?

Well, Cianan’s death, of course, and that I’d be the one to kill the bastard, and . . . oh, let’s see . . . my grandfather back alive. Not from the dead. You have to be very specific about that shit. I don’t want him to be a zombie . . . or a ghost.

Speaking of zombies, do they exist and is there a department for that?

I’ve never really seen a zombie, so I couldn’t tell you. I suppose there’s a department for them if they exist. God, could there really be a zombie apocalypse? *shudders* Let’s not go there. But, on the off chance that one should occur, I’m ready. *pulls sword from thin air*

That’s impressive.

I know. *twirls sword around, then drops it* Shit. Sorry about that. *hops off stool to pick it up* Happens every damn time.

Might make it difficult to fight zombies if you keep dropping your sword.

No shit, right? *shrugs* It’s not the only weapon I carry.

I’m so with you on that one! So tell me, Dana, how do you decide if you can trust someone? Their experience with others? First impressions? Intuition? Do you test the person somehow? Or are you just generally disposed to trust or not to trust?

I have a hard time trusting people. In this business, you never know who’s working for a vamp, or out for their own gain, which constitutes most of the world.

*nods* When you walk into a room, what do you notice first?

And the second?

Other slayers, the number of humans, and who’s working for the vamps.

*arches brow* That’s an awful lot to notice second.

Happens fairly quick, like *snaps fingers*

When you walk into a room, what do you expect people to notice about you?

That I mean business.

Describe yourself to me.

About 5’6”, long black hair, brown eyes. I’m a black belt in several martial arts, and have a special set of skills that’s rare among slayers. Don’t really know why that is.

Is one sense more highly developed than another? (Are you a more visual person, or auditory, etc., or do you rely on the famous sixth sense?)

*rolls eyes and rubs thumb and forefinger together, producing a green flame*

Oh, wow! I guess that covers magic, but what about instinct?

I trust my gut. It’s never wrong.

What do you consider your strengths?

My skill with a Katana.

What do you consider your weaknesses?

My brother. He’s such a geek that throwing him into a fight situation will likely get him killed, and me killed in the process of trying to save him.

What do you consider your special talent?

Did I not show you the green flame?

Oh, right. What do you wish your special talent was?

I wish I could change vamps back to human . . . except for Cianán. He’s just evil incarnate.

If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

*almost tears up* I’d really rather not discuss it right now. Besides, it would spoil the book for those who haven’t read it yet. *forces a smile*
